Dot NAME Domains

Introduced in 2001, the .NAME top-level extension is the sole TLD supposed to be for personal websites only. These domain names can consist of personal or fictitious names, nicknames and/or other titles people are known by. At the beginning, solely 3rd-level registrations were possible, so if you wanted to order john.doe.name, you were supposed to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were loosened and 2nd-level registrations were also permitted. Already registered 3rd-level domain names remained online.

You will have the opportunity to update the WHOIS contacts, to park your domain, to create Custom DNS records, etc. You can also move over an already purchased domain to our firm if you receive its EPP transfer key from the current registrar firm and we will renew it as soon as the transfer has been completed. There are no special requirements on who can buy a .NAME domain name, but in order to preserve the concept behind its establishment alive, the dot NAME Registry organization may check who the Registrant is and if there is no relation between the owner and the actual domain name, the registration might be challenged.
