An access log is a detailed list of all the files that were accessed by the visitors of a given Internet site. Each and every file which was requested for whatever reason shall be listed, so if you have one page with 3 embedded pics, one video and one embedded text file, as an illustration, the access log shall contain a total of 6 entries - one for any of the 6 files which were accessed when the site visitor opened the page. A log normally offers the file name and path, the date, plus the visitor’s Operating System, worldwide web browser and IP address. Occasionally you could also find the referrer sites that sent the visitors to your website. The data which an access log file provides is in human-readable plain text format. It can be processed by special software on a laptop or computer and used to write reports on the functionality of a site, besides the web stats your web hosting server may have generated.
Access Log Manager in Cloud Hosting
Our custom Hepsia Control Panel features a section focused on various logs and the access logs are one of them. When you sign in to your cloud hosting account and navigate to this section, you shall find a list of all the domain names and subdomains that you have. All it takes to permit the generation of access logs is to press a button that'll be available next to every single domain/subdomain. In case the option is enabled, you will see a download link and also the file size so far, so you will be able to save the file to your PC and examine it or process it with some application. Enabling or disabling the logs becomes effective immediately, so if you don't need one, you'll be able to stop it with only a mouse click from the same section of the CP. You will still be able to access the already generated content by clicking on the Download link.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Hosting
Our sophisticated hosting platform shall create access logs for every single Internet site hosted inside a semi-dedicated server account, provided that this feature is permitted. All domain names and subdomains that you have will be listed in the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia CP, that we offer with all of the accounts, so if you'd like our system to start generating logs for any of them, you should just click on the small button on the right side of the respective domain/subdomain and switch the default Off option to On. You may deactivate this feature whenever you want by following the same steps. You can find a Download link for every single log within the exact same section of the CP, so you could save the content produced by our system in .txt format with simply a click. An existing log file could be downloaded even after the feature has been disabled, so you will still be able to look at the data which has already been generated.
